We Are All To Blame For Syria

The Arab League. The damned Arab League. Where oh where are you? And Jordan and Turkey and Saudi and Qatar and everyone else in the region that should step up. That should have stepped up. Where are you? Why are you waiting for the United States to handle Arab affairs? (In all fairness Jordan and Turkey are bursting at the seams with the refugee crisis.) So why didn't the United States or the European Union get involved earlier as opposed to now? Way before well over 100,000 people have died and now over 3-4 million people are in dire need of humanitarian aid? 

Obama and Cameron condemned atrocities, but sat on their hands and waited. The Arab League condemned atrocities as well, but just sat on their hands. Nowhere to be found. As usual. As always. I can't be disappointed because I am always disappointed. Now chemical weapons have been used so now "we care." The world "cares." The EU "cares." Saudi "cares." France "cares." Israel "cares." The United States "cares." Obama "cares." And so on.

The day Bashar Al- Assad started killing children is when the world, The EU, the Arab League, the US, Obama, Cameron, etc., etc., should have "really cared." They didn't then. They don't now. 

Obama wants to save face and make Americans think he's doing the right thing by going to Congress. What happens if they say no? No to intervention? Will he over ride them anyway? What is his motive NOW vs. 2 years ago? And why does the US get tell the other Arab countries what to do? 

I'm not for US involvement, but I'll be damned if it happens in my name and makes the situation worse. I won't blame the US or EU fully. I will blame the Arab League, KSA, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Russia, China and Iran. I will blame everyone but not the US wholly. Why? Because the US does nothing that doesn't protect or benefit Israel. You know this. You should know this. If you don't, you know now.

And all you "Hands off Syria" people, what is your solution? "Hands off!" "Hands off!" Then what? What happens next? No plan huh? No. No plan. Just keep hands off Syria so things stay the same. All I can say now is, SORRY. Sorry children of Syria because all we can say is "Hands Off Syria!" And we can say we need intervention now, and those are short term, easy out solutions that make us feel better. But we do not project. We cannot think. We have nothing else in place for your future. We have no long term solution for you. So you will continue to die and for that I'm so very sorry.

And all you who urge me to call Congress to vote yes or no on strikes? I've been calling Congress. I've called them to ask what their plan is either way. I've called Congress to ask them what their long term goals are for Syria should they vote yes. I've called Congress to ask them what they will do if Assad is weakened and opposition takes over? What Congress will do if Assad strikes back? Or what they will do if he lashes out even harsher on his own people. I've called Congress to ask what if there are more civilian casualties? I've called Congress to say, if you decide not to strike what are your plans now because we've dug our heels in too deep?! What is the next step? What are the next 10 steps? Surely they have a plan? Surely they've thought this out! Surely we all have, haven't we?

I can't be mad and place all blame on countries who I expect to act. I can't be mad at them at all. Not entirely. Countries are run by people, who although have power, they are people just like you and me. They might have the best of intentions, they might have the worst of intentions, but either way there has been no overwhelming flood of public pressure on a world-wide scale to these people in power until now. 

Why? 

Because chemical weapons have been used and now the threat of foreign intervention is real. Very real. So real it now has an affect on us? Now we, you and me, those of us who call ourselves "activists", those who wanted to help but didn't know how, all of us, we, you and me, are frantically trying to help Syrians and ourselves (let's not joke) by either pressuring these powers to intervene or to keep their hands off. Where were we, you and me, and activists and global citizens; those who wanted to help but didn't know how or when? Where were we when the Houla massacre took place? Where were we when it happened in Daraa? When it happened in Hama? In Aleppo? When the refugees reached into the tens of thousands? Then hundreds of thousands? When it reached 1 million? When there was a mass exodus of refugees to Iraq? Iraq for crying out loud! Where were we? We, and you and me, we are to blame. All of us. All of us are to blame because we waited too long. We waited for it to come to this. I am to blame because I sat in the comfort of my own home listening to the screams and cries of Syrians. Men and women and elders and children, all begging for help. I sat in the comfort of my own home while children were butchered, mothers & daughters were raped, while their fathers and husbands were being tortured. I am to blame while I stayed up all night looking through the awful videos and decided to wait.

Assad Guarantees No Syrians Will See This Post

With the war in Syria grinding its way through the 20th consecutive month the Assad dictatorship has apparently become desperate to stop the uprising from having access to its lifeblood... the outside world. In a move that has drawn harsh criticism Bashar al-Assad has shut down the Internet within Syria. It is not clear if the services will return under foreign pressure. But it is clear to human rights observers as to why Assad has taken this dramatic action in his attempt to smash his opposition.

Media blackouts have been common when it comes to Assad and his massacres. Before the last two massacres there were minor interruptions in communications with the outside world. In the last pogrom Assad interrupted the Internet surrounding Houla in an attempt to black out any videos arising from the area. These attempts to stifle the truth from flowing out of Syria failed. So now we must ask if this new nationwide black out is a smoke screen like it had been back in Houla?

We do know now that Assad is fighting fierce battles in and around Damascus. The war for Aleppo was lost to a stale mate for Assad's forces. Now the war is coming with even more ferocity to the capital city. Car bombs rack the Syrian army every time they try to rush off to a new guerrilla street fight. Planes that had ruled the air around Aleppo are now being brought down by Free Syrian Army surface to air missiles. And yet the fighting seems to still be stuck in grid lock as Russia and China continue to poor money into Assad's reserves. 

With Russia printing Assad's money for him the dictator can continue to pay off Iranian mercenaries and Shabiha thugs. The flow of cash means that Assad can continue to pay for his secret prisons and purchase new tools with which to torture his own citizens. These billions of dollars means that Assad can use his own money, thus keeping Russia's hands clean, to purchase more Iranian weapons and Chinese ammunition. It also means that Assad has the money to fund an all out push for wide spread atrocities across the country.

In addition to cutting Internet services Assad also cut cellphone services in the country. This makes it appear that the dictator has admitted that cellphone pictures have been the leading source of "eyewitness testimony" against his war crimes. After all, it was the cellphone videos uploaded to YouTube that first alerted the West to the horrific war crimes committed by the Shabiha in Houla. It was the images of children having been bound and executed by Assad's thugs that first raised concern amongst governments in Europe and the Americas. So once again we must pose the question of whether or not Assad is preparing to launch an all out push against his opposition across the country? And how far will Assad take the country before the lights come back on? 

Some outside sources have suggested that the cutting of communications was an overreaction to the car bomb attacks that rocked suburbs of Damascus earlier this morning. Around 50 people were killed in the attacks. Yet it is hard for Alder's Ledge to buy into this excuse since the car bombs were set off in Christian and Druze neighborhoods. A fact that rules out any sympathies an Alawite Islamic leader might have for the dead. In addition the very leader that cut the communications is the same leader that began targeting Christian and Druze Syrians shortly after the uprising began.

We do know that Assad had already made plans to make a push somewhere around the international airport where rebels had been attacking for days. And shortly after cutting communications Assad did in fact start such a push against the Free Syrian Army. And in an effort to get planes back in the air and landing at the airport Assad has begun shelling civilian areas nearby. In this assault to reopen the airport Assad has sent the bulk of his forces into the villages of Babila and Hujaira to the south and Harran al-Awamid to the east. These are also areas where the cellular communications were slashed ahead of the military's arrival. 

If this is a new push to kill off as many "rebels" as the Assad regime can dig up or gather from the civilian population the West may never know. The fact is the lines of communication with the rebel militias are now cut. Outside of the foreign governments supporting the uprising, the rest of us will have to wait till information leaks out over the border into Turkey or Lebanon. What little news reporters are on the ground will also find it hard to get their reports out of the country. 

When the next massacre occurs we will have to wait to hear about it. When the next batch of children are sent off to an alleyway to be gunned down we will never be able to bear witness. When the next wave of Shabiha enter Syrian homes in the middle of the night the world will not hear their screams. This is precisely what Assad wants. The genocidal regime he has led now has all it has ever needed. A vacuum in which to operate. 

It is time for the world to wake up and take action. The darkness that has been covering Syria for nearly two years has now descended into pitch black. The monster in power now has the ability to operate without impediment. The people of Syria are now at risk of suffering far worse than they already have.

A Lion Amongst The Sheep

In the battle for Syria's fate the hell of war has no limits. This is a fight that has plunged the country into the abyss of war... the fires of genocide. With on man and his minority ruling class in charge it is obvious that the fight is lopsided. Yet the world stands at the sidelines waiting... rubbing their hands together and licking their lips as they wait to see what "opportunity" might arise.

The Shabiha slink about in the night looking for children to steal away. Taken into the darkness these children are beaten to death after hours of torture. It isn't till the night is over that the innocent bodies are returned to their terrified parents. This is meant to scare and intimidate the communities from which the children are taken. It is also meant to deprive the opposition of their next generation. It is a genocidal technique used in every recorded genocide.

The lion takes over a pride by roaming about the female lions and forcing them to succumb to his sexual urges. In his attempt to create more offspring in his own image the lion does not overlook the previous generation. Hunting his own pride for offspring not his own.... the lion kills and often consumes the innocent cubs. No matter how hard the mother tries to hide her young, the new male will hunt them till they are all dead.

al-Assad is nothing short of a lion. He is not human. He is not, contrary to his soldier's commands, G-d on earth. Assad is simply a depraved animal looking to destroy the future of his own country. His primal lust contort reality in Syrian minds. You either try to hide from him... or you roll over and plead for mercy.



Innocent little bodies lay in burial shrouds as the world watches. Yet we do nothing.

A beaten and bruised body of an innocent man stands before your eyes as his tormentors scream at him "al-Assad is your G-d". Still we seem not even blink.

What will it take before the world acts? How many more little children have to sacrificed to the beast of Damascus? How many little lambs need to be killed for the world to be called to action?



Houla was just the most notable case of Assad's brutality. In cities across Syria the Nero of Damascus is burning the country to the ground. His forces are the reason people are dying. The opposition, no matter how organized, has no ability to fight back against artillery barrages, helicopter attacks, or jets dropping bombs in the middle of the night. Every attack Assad makes is a massacre.

And then there is Assad's "ghost soldiers"... the ruthless mob he calls the Shabiha.



These are beasts by no other name. They kill innocent women and children so that the security forces in Syria can say that they have kept their hands clean. In no other terms these Shabiha are starved pit bulls who have no idea what a leash is. They are simply directed into an area and told to "have at it". Anyone who happens to be there is attacked and possibly killed. Innocence has no meaning when the thugs come into a village or city.

In Libya the west deposed a dictator who used black African labor as slave labor. Those the Libyan leader Gaddafi deemed to be less than human were butchered as the country slipped into chaos. They were used as human shields as the UN forces bombed Gaddafi into submission. And they were killed by the "rebels" as the country was secured under militia control.

But the West had no problem with helping support genocidal trends in Libya. So why are we still identifying the genocidal tendencies of the Assad regime and doing nothing? Is there just no reward at the end of this fatal game? Does the end just simply not justify the means?

I'm starting to believe that the West just doesn't care to save innocent souls unless they happen to be Christian or white. After all, we didn't bother to stop Serbia from killing Muslims in concentration camps right on the back door of Europe. We failed to even notice Pol Pott and his genocide while trying to take Cambodia back to "year zero". And we really failed to lift a finger to stop the killings in Rwanda as the Hutu minority took to machetes in their attempt to slaughter every Tutsi in Rwanda. G-d knows we haven't done a damned thing to stop the genocide in Darfur... but we did make plenty of "good educational" documentaries about the slaughter.

So once again... how many of Syria's youth need to die before the West decides to uphold its promise of "Never Again"?

Perhaps it is just the fact that the big bad wolf we call Russia is supporting (and profiting) off the genocide in Syria. But in any case I guess I should just thank G-d the West decided to stop the Nazi's and the Croats back when my ancestors needed their help. Because it is clear today that it is nearly impossible to force the mighty West to act when it comes to stopping genocide when and where it is happening today.






A special thanks to CNN for at the very least showing these videos. But for heavens sakes CNN... stop blurring the faces. Just show the damned videos so that the world may actually see the faces of the voiceless. That they might look into the eyes of those who need us most. Please just show this videos every day all day so that when this thing finally ends the world can not say again... "well we just didn't know what was going on."

Devling Deeper Into The Darkness

The Darkness Visible Continued

Currently the United Nations is broken. Their so called "peace keeping" goals in Syria is failing miserably. The country of Syria is enduring the worst case of what can only be described as genocide. Yet the world has turned away and thrown their money behind some good will UN policy that will never stop a single death in Syria.

The lion is on the prowl today as I write this. The Butcher of Damascus is at this moment using Russian provided attack helicopters to strike villages around Homs and Homs itself. Bashar al-Assad will use Iranian provided snipers to keep these areas under his control. Innocent civilians will be killed before I can finish this post.

Many of you have simply ignored this subject for many reasons. One being that you think that this "civil war" is not or can not be called Genocide. So for the last time I will define why Syria has been added to the long list of genocides in our wretched past.

Bashar al-Assad belongs to an Islamic sect known as Alawite Shia. The vast majority of his country's population however are Shiite Muslims. This has been one of the major motivators in al-Assad's brutality against his own people. And that is why, plain and simple, this is genocide.

Now onto what is happening and why the world isn't watching.

The Butcher of Damascus has been employing the use of mercenaries from within his country and beyond his borders. The most feared of all are the Shabiha (in Arabic, "Ghost"). These are the "clean up crew" in Bashar's bloody war against his own citizens.

Shabiha have been described as "steroid fueled gorillas" who wield AK 47s and machetes. And due to the "come and get it" policy Bashar's bank account has had for the last six months, the Shabiha are now fiercely loyal to the Bashar regime.

According to the handful of accounts leaking out of the locked down country the Shabiha move into a town or village that has just been shelled or bombed out by the Syrian military. Any helpless women and children are usually targeted first by the Shabiha. Next the men who have survived the attacks by the Bashar military are marched out by the "Ghost" and killed as brutally as possible. This exact method is seen in Darfur by the Janjaweed (in Arabic, "Devils on Horseback").

In other attacks Damascus's Nero has used his newly found toys (Russian provided) to cover the streets by hovering overhead. During this time the Iranian provided snipers move in and take up post throughout the city. Next comes the Syrian paramilitary forces who attack any points of resistance the population may be able to provide. Finally the the death squads move in and flush the city of any Shiite Muslims and feed them into sniper fire while butchering any that try to flee or resist.

Most of the time however Bashar's forces use artillery and attack helicopters to strike random villages to subdue any organizing that might be taking place. Random appearances of these Russian attack helicopters also serve to keep the level of terror up in and around Damascus itself. They also are used to light fires in villages that Bashar fears "rebels" might be passing through.

Paranoia has earned Bashar the title Nero. His fear of his own people has led him to this point. He is leading a campaign to destroy his own countrymen. And nobody is doing a thing to stop it.

The United States is suffering from the cowardice of its President. Obama was willing to help topple other leaders in the region when they were already on their way out. But now he is faced with a real threat to our promise "Never Again". Now Obama sets back and waits to see how this fight will play out. And maybe, just maybe, if the Free Syrian Army can fight back against Bashar.... then Obama just might "help".

This is the symptom of having a President who is only out to make a name for himself. You get cowards like Bashar and Obama.

As for Europe, the French started this "Peace Keeping" plan with the goal of bringing about some form of glory for Paris. In stopping genocide their is no glory to be found. When we stopped the Nazis their was only the sickening reality of what mankind was capable of. It is not a pleasant task and yet it is the most important responsibility we have ever been charged with.

This is the weak point in European glory seekers. This sort of tiptoeing through the minefield is all we can expect when the Europeans are unwilling to stand up to Russia and Iran. Let alone their lack of spine when it comes to military intervention in Syria.

So who is fighting for Syria?



The Free Syrian Army, an army of civilians organized to defeat the oppression of Bashar al-Assad, are the only force attempting to protect the innocent. They are however the excuse used to label this as a "civil war". It appears that anytime a populace arms itself to defend against aggression the world takes the opportunity to step back and claim ignorance.
