Lebensraum And Burma

Living Space for the Kalar
(part of The Darkness Visible series)

In Buddhism the Swastika might be a symbol of luck and peace, the Nazi flag however...

Across the world societies have often turned to an ethnocentric version of their collective history by isolating a portion of their community from the rest. This willingness to segregate shows the weaknesses of the society in which they occur. To the outsider it is easy to identify how these chinks in the armor create a fatal flaw. However for those who are bound by the facade of morality these societies uphold this need to hate is almost unrecognizable.

In many cases these flaws in the makeup of the society can go on for decades without incident. Both the isolated community and the rest of society can almost learn to accept their roles in the overall scheme of things. Little digs at the targeted community can even be tolerated for some time without much friction. Words such as "nigger, kike, and faggot" might even become popular amongst the majority. And given the frequency of the abuse both majority and minority might even become accustom to a situation that outsiders would find intolerable.

Then comes a group of antagonist.

With some effort a group or individual can exploit the rift that floats just beneath the surface. This occurred in Germany with the rise of the Nazis and in Rwanda with daily antagonism on the airwaves. Their persistence in pushing the minute differences between the majority and minority pushed their society to the edge of the abyss. And in the case of genocide... over the edge and into the depths.

Once the ball gets rolling it is nearly impossible to stop the tide.

In the case of the Germans the antagonist started the flow of hatred with the theory of lebensraum. This method exacerbated the differences of both race and religion that cracked the German society. It helped to give purpose to the rise of hatred in ways that even the pogroms had not managed. It justified a sense of hatred that not only isolated the targeted community but dehumanized them.

With Burma the antagonist have long implemented Hitler's old methods in their targeting and attacking of the Rohingya minority. Their use of ghettos mimics the SS in Poland. Their exploitation of "unruly mobs" recreates (over a much longer time scale) the SA's kristallnacht. But it was their pushing of lebensraum that made all that possible.

To understand how Burma pushes the theory of lebensraum we should first look at how it was created in the first place.

Lebensraum was first thought up long before Hitler's hijacking of it. Many historians accredit the social theory of lebensraum to the medieval Ostsiedlung or the spread of German settlements into Eastern Europe. Thus this recreation of past sins was of course founded on the same ideas the first spawned the spread of "German peoples" into foreign lands. These being that the German people were growing faster than their own territory could sustain. Therefore both the medieval and modern fascist came to the same conclusion... attack weaker societies and take from them what you need.

According to Hitler the German people needed "living space" to continue their inevitable growth. However unlike past expansions, Hitler did not believe that the "pure Aryan" should be diluted in his expansion by living with or mixing with the societies already living on the soon to be conquered lands. Slavs, Jews, Roma, and Poles all needed to be cleared along with the Russians and political dissenters. These were all of course threats to the confiscation of much needed territories.

In Burma today it is obvious that the map has already been drawn up. It is inconceivable that Myanmar could or would invade neighboring lands to acquire more territory upon which to build and expand. Yet the government of Burma has a portion within it that believes that the "pure" Burmese need more "living space".

Yet in Burma "pure" doesn't just mean a particular race, though that does play its role. Instead religion and language also play a role that race alone could not fill. With the Rohingya the fact that they are Muslims fills this role almost to its conclusion... forcible removal and extermination.

For decades the word "kalar" has long highlighted the fracture in Rakhine society. It's racial sting not only identifies the Rohingya as darker skinned but "unclean" as well. Unclean for the fact that they are not Buddhist like the Rakhine majority. Unclean because they do not speak, mostly amongst themselves, the same dialect of Burmese as the Rakhine.

In this sense the word "kalar" cracks Burmese society in ways that no other word can. After all, "kalar" is almost a legal definition of the Rohingya withing the Arakan. "Kalar" individuals are often denied standard documentation such as birth certificates and marriage licenses. "Kalar" people can be forced to do labor for the government and military without pay or any compensation. "Kalar" people do not have to be treated with dignity or respect while they are always expected to show it to the rest of society.

During the massive pogroms that occurred in the summer and fall of 2012 the "kalar" were openly targeted while the government offered military protection to the Buddhist majority. This showed the Rohingya that once again they were being targeted for removal from not only their land but the society as a whole. The one word that had separated the Muslims from the Buddhists was now being plastered everywhere like the old "Whites Only" signs in America's dirty south. All the while the Rohingya were being killed and driven out of their homes and villages.

Like Hitler, the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP) has used the differences between the two groups to further split up the Arakan community. Over emphasizing slurs such as "kalar" helps to further ingrain radical philosophies such as lebensraum. And once the ideals of the party become the default argument of the majority the start of the genocide begins.

There are already signs that the RNDP has succeeded at fully implanting their ideology into the majority of Rakhine society. With support of the religious leaders of the Arakan Buddhist community the RNDP has managed to bring in Rakhine settlers to "resettle" Rohingya villages. The monks have openly supported efforts by the RNDP to tighten the strangling grip of the barricades blocking aid to Rohingya villages and camps. And with support of government authorities the RNDP has been able to arrange launching points for Rohingya ships leaving Burma in an effort to ethnically cleanse the Arakan.

Had the cracks not already been present it is arguable that antagonist like the RNDP could not have pushed such radical beliefs such as the current genocide of the Rohingya. Yet no argument can bring back the dead already lost to this horrific tragedy. No what if this or that sort of debate can end the slaughter.

If the Rohingya are to be saved and the genocide is to be stopped the outside world must first take action and wait to talk after the bleeding has stopped. We can not talk or trade our way to a scenario where Rohingya aren't starving to death or drowning at sea. If Burma is to be stopped the world community has to find more meaningful ways to force Myanmar to a standstill.

Unfortunately that means that the world media must give up its narrative of a "democratic Myanmar" heading for reform and an open society. We all have seen just how much the media has enjoyed this love affair with Burmese leaders such as Suu Kyi and Thein Sein. But if we are going to live with ourselves after this genocide is ended then we must hold both responsible for their actions in this tragedy.

As for economics... well that is the portion of this struggle that is almost like hitting a brick wall. When dealing with genocide it seems that facing the reality of politics and ideology are nothing in comparison to getting governments to back away from easy profit. In the modern age it is nearly impossible to imagine a situation in which China, Russia, the EU, or USA ever back away from profit over stopping a genocidal regime.

How many more Rohingya have to die so that the West can profit off of Burma's need for "living space"?

Is Europe Dieing?

-
Rise of Fascism in Russia.
-

-
In 2009 it was predicted that over half the worlds known population of Neo-Nazis lived in Russia. To me this is almost to much to believe. After all, it was Adolf Hitler who had used a "scorched Earth" policy while invading the "Mother Land". So how is it that the World War Two stormtroopers are now reappearing in Russia?
-
The idea goes that as the collapse of the Soviet Union came about the rise of immigration began. People from the Caucuses and other former colonies of the Soviets began to rush into the falling empire's homeland. These people simply were seeking a better life than what the Soviets had made for them in the old Soviet block puppet states.
-
Now days the immigration to Russia is still climbing. With a booming economy, the old communist state is suddenly an attractive destination for the East and its impoverished countries. This has helped bring about the resentment that has fueled the "apocalyptic" view of the skinhead movement in Russia.
-
Ideas that focus on the "birth rate" and the replacement of ethnic majorities have lent to the racist motivations that now have a footing in Europe. The Czech Republic has demonized its old communist rulers while leaning back toward Adolf's style of thinking. Romania too has lent itself to the racist ideologies of Hitler's Europe. Russia however... well Russian racist are reforming the agendas of Nazism to fit their nations unique needs.
-
Random street fighting, vicious attacks on minorities, terrorist style executions, and racist backed boot camps. These are all the trademarks of Russian Nazism. This is how half of the Nazis in the world today behave.
-

-
It is clear that the movement is still growing. The economy in Russia may be hitting rough patches yet the immigration to Russia is still continuing. And the Nazi movement in Russia is still sucking in the poor and weary in a dim society. All we have left is to see where the movement ends.
-
Will Russia be the new Germany?

Hungary Hungry for Pogroms

Fuel for the Fire
-

-
With the rise of the far-right taking Europe like wild fire the eastern parts of Europe are falling fast. Hungary has long been a flirt when it comes to the Nazi style politics spreading westward. Worst yet, Hungary has a long past as a fascist conspirator (hence their arrow flag and arm bands). And that history just doesn't seem to want to go away.
-
Hajduhadhaz, a small town of around 13,000 people is just the next battle field for the far-right in Hungary. With the government's recent law linking welfare (a source of income that many Hungarians rely upon) payments to the cleanliness of your home and property. This fascist inspired law was directed by the far-right to target the Romani living in places like Hajduhadhaz.
-
One Rom, Balint Bernath claims that the government makes it a habit to come into their homes and check their bathrooms and toilets. He also claims that a neighbor lost his welfare payments because a snooping official found a single spot of dog excrement in his yard. It isn't clear if the government is enforcing this law on all Hungarians or only the Roma minority.
-
It is clear however that in places like Hajduhadhaz the far-right political party Jobbik is calling the shots. The parliamentary deputy, 32 year-old Gergely Rubi, for example. People like him claim that the Roma, and the Roma alone, are the cause for all ills that have befallen Hungary. He claims that the Roma are thieves, rapist, violent criminals, and just plain plunderers and pillagers.
-
Mr. Rubi does not however admit that the policies his party is pushing have suppressed the local economies by restricting the ability of the common man to start up business or engage in business of his own choosing. Instead his party has sought to restore their mythically pure Magyar race back to its position of authority in Hungary. So like the Nazi's Aryans, the Jobbik party is attempting to divide the races and conquer the minorities.
-
One portion of the Jobbik argument claims that the Roma are outsiders in the belief that they are "pagans", "Muslims", or even "witches". However in Hajduhadhaz the Roma are seemingly flocking the new Pentecostal Church. They are "finding religion" in the depths of economic repression. And this in a way feeds the Jobbik belief that the Roma are outsiders. The Jobbik party flocks to the old Calvinist Church.
-
As of late the differences between the two not so different ethnic groups (most Roma are not nomadic anymore due the old policies of the Communist Eastern Block). Jobbik has set up programmes through out the Hungarian countryside. Their goal is clear, if only to them, to restore "law and order". To the outsiders (us and the Roma) their goal is even more clear... to defeat and destroy an entire ethnic group... genocide.
-
Unlike the good old days of Hungarian socialism and even communism these days at least some of the criminals are being brought to justice (or a version of it). Trials of Hungarian murders are scheduled to begin soon. However these small steps are most likely just to appease the EU and UN. It is unclear as of now if the Hungarian government will actually make any real strides in stopping the Jobbik party and its plans for more pogroms. Or if Hungary will simply respond to the crimes after the fact.
-
"They now face sentences between 15 years and life in prison, depending on their degree of culpability. The case greatly exacerbated the atmosphere at the time, Roma people even prepared to emigrate en masse," said Attila Petöfi of the Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation.
-
Kill and maim people based on race and hatred for an entire people in Hungary and you might get off with just 15 years. A portion of that might not even be served in prison either. This is why I am sceptical about Hungarian commitment to stopping the Jobbik fascist and their demented minions.

What Happens When Auschwitz Comes Back On Line?

-
Anti-Semitism Making A Comeback
-

-
The French Front National party is now applying a "feminine" touch to its party... the ousted leader is placing his daughter at the head of the Front National. Jean-Marie Le Pen is now a thing of the past. His daughter Marine however will not fully change the party rhetoric... references to the "gas chambers" will still be present if the Front National wants to win the French Presidency in 2012. However the racist propaganda will simply be made more "family friendly".
-
When the Democrats wanted to change their image during President George W. Bush's second term they elected a "grandma" figure as Speaker of the House. Marine will simply fill this same need on behalf of the Front National.
-
In a recent release by the United State's State Department France's anti-Semitic incidents have risen by 300 percent since 2009. These said incidents involve public figures slandering Jews in general, defacing of synagogues, news papers publishing blatantly anti-Semitic remarks and images, government officials and party leaders committing acts of "blood libel" and slander against Jews in general, and political parties running on openly anti-Semitic platforms. Front National being the lead party to have committed acts of and encouraging acts of anti-Semitism.
-
States Department Special Envoy Representative, Hannah S. Rosenthal told NewsMax.com that “When you find some rhetoric, whether it’s from a government official, from a religious leader, from a community leader, or in graffiti that calls for killing or harming Jews, that clearly is an incident of anti-Semitism." She went on to clarify; “When Jews are accused of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing and [people] blame all Jews around the world, that’s an act of anti-Semitism. When Jews are accused of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust, that’s an act of anti-Semitism.”
-
The accurate reporting of new in regards to Israel is not an act of anti-Semitism (according to the States Department and Hannah S. Rosenthal). And yet it has become increasingly rare in Europe to be capable of finding news articles accurately reporting on Israel. It is however easy to find news articles that slander the state of Israel and openly question its legitimacy.
-
While France descends into the grips of the far right the rest of Europe seems to already be already there. Germany now has entire states that are controlled and governed by political parties and politicians that openly admit to being neo-Nazis. The radicals in Germany find time to have shooting practice in the woods near their villages. Others are encouraged to openly attack and drive out their Jewish neighbors.
-
Hungary on the other hand doesn't need to isolate its right wingers... they already control the federal government there. The Jobbik Party in Hungary (the second largest in Hungary) marches through Jewish neighborhoods with Nazi era flags (flags the Nazi conspirators in Hungary used). All the while they wear Nazi armbands and sign songs that glorify Hitler and the concentration camps. Yet their main target has recently taken the back seat while the Jobbik party attempts to ethnically cleanse its country of its Roma minority.
-
The Czech Republic and its surrounding neighboring countries all have recently taken their "double genocide" law before the EU so as to openly deny the Holocaust's importance in their nations' histories. Some might argue that in a country where the population openly did the Nazi's dirty work one might want to "forgive and forget". But if we have learned nothing from our combined history as human beings it is that "if we do not learn from our past we are damned to repeat it".
-
So as the question above stated... What happens when Auschwitz comes back on line?
-
In a Europe so deeply embedded in economic woes and ethnic tensions Hitler issued the first "Final Solution". Today we look at a Europe that is once again deeply embedded in economic woes and steeped in ethnic and religious tensions (as the Dutch "warning to the visible Jews" points out). Can we be looking at a Europe that could possibly issue a truly final solution of its own?
-
In my eyes it is a haunting issue that camps like Auschwitz remain in near working condition. Some may argue that the camps could not be used in their present state of existence... but how much work really needs to be done to kill people there? Others may point out the fact that they are reminders of our past and that I agree. But the issue remains, besides rebuilding the gas chambers and furnaces, the camps could now house nearly the same amount of people as they did in World War Two.
-
Look at the camps we housed the Japanese in during World War Two. How long would it take to rebuild those?
-
In Europe we witnessed the rebuilding and reconstructing of death camps during the "civil wars" in the Balkans. These death camps, constructed by Serbs, were used to destroy or diminish the targeted population. They were built without concern for the safety or comfort of the imprisoned... for obvious reasons. Thus, these camps took rather little time to bring on line.
-
With the intent of causing death by design, concentration camps can be constructed quickly and cheaply. They need not be comfortable to live in nor do they need to support human life in even the most primitive form. Thus Auschwitz is possibly already in working order.
-
So I should go on to ask who would be sent to a newly operational Auschwitz?
-
Sadly the same groups of people targeted by Hitler would be sent to newly built or refurbished death camp. Roma, mentally ill, any political decenter, anti-socials, and yes... the Jews would be targets once again. The only groups missing in this proposed new Holocaust would be the homosexuals, communist, and Polish (unless they happen to be of any group listed in the targeted list).
-
A new addition might be added in my opinion. Muslims, who the Europeans invited into their countries yet now resent, could be targeted due to religious differences. Most people who are watching the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe disagree with me due to the stereotype that claims Muslims are "natural enemies" of Jews. However the laws being passed across most of Europe show clearly the "Islamaphobia" taking hold of Europe.
-
Who would support such a disgustingly historical proposal such as another Holocaust?
-
Far Right (neo-Nazi style) Parties in Europe as of now...
-
National Revival of Poland Party- Poland
Jobbik Party- Hungary
National Front- France
Social Democrats- Germany
Republican Party of Germany- Germany
German People's Union- Germany
National Democratic Party- Germany

National Alliance- Norway
Vigrid- Norway
Flemish Block- Belgium
Hellenic Front- Greece
Northern League- Italy
National Alliance- Italy
Popular Party- Portugal
Swiss Peoples' Party- Switzerland
The True Finns- Finland
-
All the groups listed above have either supported or tried to pass themselves laws that would and could lead to government sanctioned discrimination against Jews and other minorities in Europe. Only a select few of those listed above have not openly admitted that their parties are anti-Semitic in nature. All the rest have leaders who either glorify the "attempts at creating a pure European" Europe. So it is not a far stretch of the imagination to assume that these followers would openly or overtly support the killing or deportation of all minorities in Europe.
-
So how would the next Holocaust play out?
-
During Hitler's Holocaust there were clear distinctions between countries in Europe. Borders were closed and people could not be taken across a border without "papers". Today, as long as you are an "acceptable" citizen, people can cross the borders in Europe with much greater ease. The individual countries in Europe no longer retain true sovereignty seeing as how they are now subjected to the laws of the European Union.
-
If the parties from the said countries were to unite European law just a little more than it already is they could easily ignore the few regulations that still exist. Gaining power across adjoining borders is no longer a concern as it was back when Hitler's Nazi party began fostering sister parties in neighboring countries. The need for sympathies in neighboring countrymen is not needed. Therefore the far right in Europe can easily move targeted communities into the few regions of Europe where the population is considered "rural".
-
With the targeted communities "out of sight and out of mind" the new death camps can be brought into the modern age. Automated and nearly autonomous in nature, these camps can exterminate the "immigrants and minority populations" without the need to gain the local population's support. Party members could operate without concern of the local populations' moral objections... assuming they would have any.
-
In this scenario there would be no need for an army or Waffen SS to carry out the orders of racist politicians. The simple following of eugenics (a primitive form of the Evolutionary Theory) could be used to encourage party members into acting in much the same manner as the SS did during World War Two. This use of "reason and rational argument" is often much easier than one might think in getting people to act upon even the most barbaric of desires.
-
In a study of social behaviors a collage class was able to get students to "administer increasing levels of electric shock" to a perceived "patient". The "authoritative figure" provided to them needed only to offer a little "encouragement" when the "patient" screamed out in agony. Some students even continued to "administer increasing levels of electric shock" once the perceived "patient" ceased to cry out in pain... in effect they were punishing a perceivably dead victim.
-
The application of this system in real life often occurred during Hitler's reign in Europe. Pol Pott in Cambodia used it to achieve a sadistic rule over his Kempher Rouge. In a proposed "new age" Europe this style of rule would fit the bill to induce a second Holocaust. It could easily be applied to ramp up support for the next "Final Solution".
-
In the event that this nightmare would come to past, we could only hope that the Europeans would act out militarily against another ally of the United States. However this, the only way to stop this scenario, seems highly unlikely since Europe has shown that is unable or incapable of using its military force upon external threats.
-
For this reason it is highly important that we get more and more people to become aware of the growing threat of anti-Semitism in Europe. We must keep our eyes upon our neighbors across the pond at all times. It is increasingly clear with each passing election (their elections) that they are quickly backsliding into the sins of their past.
-
It is very likely that this proposed scenario will never again be repeated upon European soil. But it is also very likely that it will. And for this reason we can not falter in our defense of freedom and the common human liberties and rights and freedoms our God granted every man and woman from birth.
-
Wake up America... Wake up oh bastion of freedom... Wake up oh sleeping giant.
